Field trip to the East Kolkata Wetlands - Class 12

On 21.Nov.19 the Students of Class 12-Humanities Stream studying Geography, were taken for a field visit to East Kolkata Wetlands.

The purpose of the visit was to understand the significance of this unique peri-urban wetland, a Ramsar Heritage Site.

The other purpose was to conduct a household sociometric survey of a sample population in the vicinity.

The trip was conducted with the help of the East Kolkata Wetlands Management Authority, Government of West Bengal and an NGO, SEED (Society for Socio Economic and Ecological Development).

The students had the privilege of interacting with an internationally renowned hydro-geomorphologist Dr. Somenath Bhattacharyya.
