Satindra Palli

The campus, comprising a small house with a meditation room and a lush green garden, is located in Satindra Palli, an enclave of freedom fighters. It has the unique distinction of being the only place in Calcutta, other than Barrackpore, that houses the ashes of Gandhiji.

The land and house were gifted to Sri Aurobindo Institute of Culture by an eminent freedom fighter Shrimati Shantisudha Ghosh.

Shrimati Ghosh was initially unsure who to gift the property to. She received an indication, and considered it to be the Divine's intervention, when she received a receipt for an offering of Rs.5 from Dyumanbhai of Sri Aurobindo Ashram, Pondicherry, when she had not made any such offering.

On 15.August.1989, Shantisudha Ghosh. came to Lakshmi's House and formally made an offering of the property.

The Prayer meeting was to be held at the house, named Prantik, in the offered property at Satindra Palli campus.

Initially, activities related to women empowerment were carried out in the Satindra Palli campus. Sarees, gamchhas and napkins have been supplied to the Ashram at Pondicherry from this establishment's own weaving machine.

Later, Arun Nursery School's second campus was run from this premises for several years.

Uttarbhag

Sri Aurobindo Institute of Culture (SAIOC) procured land in 2006 in the village Brindakhali, Uttarbhag near Baruipur, 24 Parganas (South) near Kolkata. This was possible due to the efforts put in by Shri Rathin Mitter, a year before his journey to The Mother.

Aumorto is a state of the art retirement community for active seniors located amidst lush greenery and is inspired by the ideals of the Mother and Sri Aurobindo. Aumorto is for those who choose to remain young, those who believe they can contribute, people who may be retired but are far from tired.

Community Outreach Programme -

The Institute decided to use the place to develop education and health care amongst women and children of villages around Uttarbhag and to improve the livelihood of the villagers. Hence the institute and its sister institution, The Future Foundation School (TFFS), have been conducting a Community Outreach Programme since 2006.

Aurokul, the non-formal education programme that started with 51 village children on July 11, 2017 now has nearly 200 children of varied age groups. With this unique community service programme, the institute aspires to be a meaningful presence in the lives of the less fortunate and make their lives happier, in some measure.

The multi-pronged activities include, as a benchmark, free medical treatment and distribution of medicines, free of cost, by a proficient Homeopath once a week, to more than 400 villagers.

Sri Aurobindo Nilaya - the name given by The Mother, was inaugurated on December 21, 1961.

The Mother had written a beautiful message at inception:

"To open a centre is not sufficient in itself. It must be the pure hearth of a perfect sincerity in a total consecration to the Divine. Let the flame of this sincerity rise high above the falsehoods and the deceptions of the world."
