In 1990, "Sri Aurobindo and Calcutta Memorial Committee" was formed to identify places in Calcutta where Sri Aurobindo had stayed at or worked from.
Smt. Joya Mitter then undertook the arduous task of unearthing these places - some no longer existed, whilst the ones that did were inaccessible or out of bounds. Nothing could however stop Joya di.
Finally, Commemorative Plaques were unveiled at the identified sites as a consummation of Joya di's long and laborious endeavour.

This video relives Calcutta's association with Sri Aurobindo in the period 1906-1910. It describes the fruition of Joya di's endeavour to put up Commemorative Plaques at those places in Calcutta where Sri Aurobindo had stayed at or worked from.
The Gallery presents a son-et-lumiere exposition on Sri Aurobindo's life, with particular reference to the Indian Freedom Movement in the first decade of the 20th century. Authentic arms and ammunition have been replicated. The cell in Presidency Jail and the Alipore Courtroom have been recreated. A rare historical account that promises to transport the viewer into an epoch of patriotism, valour and sacrifice for the Motherland, awaits visitors.
